Born in Elmhurst, Illinois, Matt Rumpfeldt first became interested in Joe Jackson after viewing a TV program in the 1970s about the 1919 World Series. The program included interviews with some of the members from the Cincinnati Reds team, which lit a spark. That spark eventually led to Matt becoming part of the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum since its inception in 2008. He later became one of the first three Advisory Board Members in 2013.

Matt is passionate about the museum and hopes it will continue to grow and flourish. He is especially keen about the museum sharing the Joe Jackson story to more than just the avid baseball fan. As a history buff, both baseball and otherwise, Matt feels the story is always well received by the casual fan and anyone interested in knowing more than just a snippet from 1919.

Matt works for a communications company and, in addition to his time with our museum, he volunteers at the Illinois Railway Museum and at Feeding South Florida Food Bank. He also supports the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, which helps pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Matt is a published photographer and author. He loves to travel, and has only six Major League stadiums left to see before reaching his goal of visiting each one. Matt currently lives in Coral Springs, Florida, and is very interested in NASA and the space program.
